In 1988, the College of Engineering became the first engineering college in the densely populated Middle Euphrates region. The departments of civil, and mechanical engineering were the first to be established, followed by the departments of electrical, chemical, environmental, architecture, and biomedical engineering.

The University of Babylon is one of the largest universities in Iraq. It is situated on the banks of the Euphrates River in the province of Babil in central Iraq. بمبادرة تعكس نهج الكلية في دعم وتحفيز الكوادر الإدارية المتميزة، كرمت السيد عميد كلية طب الأسنان بجامعة بابل، الأستاذ الدكتورة سهى عبد الحسين هندي المحترمة، السيدة رباب بشير شناوة مسؤولة شعبة التخطيط في الكلية، بمنحها شهادة تقديرية تقديراً لجهودها الاستثنائية. جاء هذا التكريم عرفاناً بالدور المحوري الذي لعبته السيدة رباب بشير في إدارة وتسيير أعمال شعبة الموارد البشرية خلال الفترة السابقة، حيث أبدت كفاءة عالية في تنظيم الملفات الإدارية وضمان انسيابية العمل في واحدة من أهم شعب الكلية. وكذلك الأداء المهني والالتزام بالدقة والموضوعية في تنفيذ المهام الموكلة إليها إلى جانب مهامها في شعبة التخطيط والروح القيادية والعمل بروح الفريق الواحد بما يسهم في تحقيق أهداف المؤسسة التعليمية. وقد أكدت السيدة العميد أن الكلية تفخر بوجود طاقات إدارية مخلصة تعمل بجد خلف الكواليس، مشيرة إلى أن تكريم المبدعين هو جزء من استراتيجية الكلية لتعزيز بيئة العمل، وأن الجهود المخلصة للسيدة رباب بشير كانت وما زالت محل تقدير واعتزاز من قبل عمادة الكلية. احمد ابراهيم
