In 1988, the College of Engineering became the first engineering college in the densely populated Middle Euphrates region. The departments of civil, and mechanical engineering were the first to be established, followed by the departments of electrical, chemical, environmental, architecture, and biomedical engineering.

The University of Babylon is one of the largest universities in Iraq. It is situated on the banks of the Euphrates River in the province of Babil in central Iraq. The institution is made up of 21 colleges spread across three main locations in Hilla. The central university campus is in the medical colleges complex in the center of Hilla -Al-Iskan.

في خطوة تجسد تلاحم المؤسسات الأكاديمية مع الحراك التنموي والثقافي الكبرى في البلاد، أعلنت رئاسة جامعة بابل عن دعمها ومشاركتها الفاعلة في "بينالي العراق الدولي للفنون التشكيلية" (2025 – 2030). ويأتي هذا الحدث الدولي البارز تحت رعاية مكتب رئيس مجلس الوزراء ليكون منصة عالمية فريدة تعيد صياغة المشهد الثقافي الإنساني، وتنطلق تحت شعار: "الفن كذاكرة حية.. العراق يشرع أبوابه للعالم". رؤية وطنية بأبعاد عالمية تنطلق هذه الشراكة من إيمان جامعة بابل العميق بفاعلية الفن كأداة لبناء الوعي الجمالي، وتأكيد الهوية الوطنية. ويسعى البينالي في دورته الاستراتيجية الممتدة لخمس سنوات إلى تحويل العراق إلى مركز ثقل عالمي للتفاعل الثقافي والحوار الإنساني، مستنداً إلى "بغداد" كقلب نابض للحضارة، ليمد جسوراً تربط بين أصالة الماضي الرافديني وآفاق المستقبل التقني. "جامعة بابل: شريك فاعل في بناء المشهد الثقافي العراقي المعاصر".. الأهداف الاستراتيجية للبينالي: من الفن إلى التنمية المستدامة لا يقتصر البينالي على كونه حدثاً فنياً عابراً، بل هو مشروع وطني مستدام يرتكز على محاور جوهرية تشمل: شؤون المرأة والشباب: إتاحة فرص القيادة الإبداعية وضمان دور محوري للطاقات الشابة والمرأة في إدارة وإنتاج الفنون. دمج التعليم الفني بالتراث: استلهام الجذور الحضارية العريقة للعراق كموجه أساسي للنتاج الفني المعاصر. الابتكار والاستدامة: توظيف التقنيات الرقمية الحديثة مثل الذكاء الاصطناعي (AI)، الواقع المعزز (AR)، والواقع الافتراضي (VR)، مع تأسيس منظومة فنية-اقتصادية تحول الفعل الفني إلى مشروع تنموي طويل الأمد. التسويق والدبلوماسية الثقافية: تقديم منجز فني عراقي قادر على المنافسة في الأسواق العالمية، وبناء شبكة علاقات دولية تربط العراق بالمؤسسات الثقافية الكبرى. القيم الجوهرية للحدث يقوم المشروع على ركائز ثنائية تجمع بين الأصالة (عبر استحضار الهوية الرافدينية) والتجديد (بالانفتاح على التكنولوجيا المعاصرة)، إلى جانب الشفافية الثقافية في إدارة الشراكات والتمويل. دعوة للطلبة والمبدعين: لنصنع المستقبل معاً انطلاقاً من دورها الأكاديمي والريادي، توجه جامعة بابل دعوة مفتوحة لكافة طلبتها، أساتذتها، ومنتسبيها، بالإضافة إلى المبدعين من داخل العراق وخارجه، للتفاعل والمشاركة الفاعلة في هذا التحول الحضاري. إنها دعوة لإعادة تعريف التاريخ بلغة العصر، والمساهمة في صياغة مشهد ثقافي يعكس عمق حضارة العراق وامتدادها نحو العالم. بينالي العراق الدولي 2025-2030: من بغداد.. حيث تلتقي الذاكرة بالابتكار ليتشكل الفن لغةً جديدة للإنسان... قسم الإعلام والاتصال الحكومي
