In 1988, the College of Engineering became the first engineering college in the densely populated Middle Euphrates region. The departments of civil, and mechanical engineering were the first to be established, followed by the departments of electrical, chemical, environmental, architecture, and biomedical engineering.

The University of Babylon is one of the largest universities in Iraq. It is situated on the banks of the Euphrates River in the province of Babil in central Iraq. The institution is made up of 21 colleges spread across three main locations in Hilla. The central university campus is in the medical colleges complex in the center of Hilla -Al-Iskan.

برعاية وحضور رئيس جامعة بابل، الأستاذ الدكتور أمين عجيل الياسري، وإشراف مساعد رئيس الجامعة للشؤون العلمية، الأستاذ الدكتور محمد منصور الخفاجي، شهدت رحاب الجامعة احتفالية مركزية كبرى بمناسبة "يوم الريادة الوطني"، نظمها قسم حدائق العلوم والتكنولوجيا. وشهدت الاحتفالية حضوراً رفيع المستوى تمثل بمساعد رئيس الجامعة للشؤون الإدارية الأستاذ الدكتور ميثاق طالب الجبوري، وعمداء الكليات، ونخبة من الأساتذة والطلبة. وجسدت كلية طب الأسنان حضوراً متميزاً في هذه الاحتفالية، حيث مثل الكلية الأستاذ المساعد الدكتور وائل رشيد عبيد الفتلاوي، معاون العميد للشؤون الإدارية، تأكيداً على انخراط الكلية في استراتيجية الجامعة نحو الابتكار والتحول الرقمي، ودعمها للمشاريع الريادية التي تخدم القطاع الصحي والمجتمعي. استهلت بتلاوة من الذكر الحكيم وعرض فيلم وثائقي استعرض مسيرة الريادة في الجامعة وبيئتها الخصبة لاحتضان المشاريع المبتكرة. ثم كلمة رئيس الجامعة حيث أكد الدكتور أمين الياسري أن التحول الرقمي هو "خيار استراتيجي" لرفع الكفاءة المؤسسية، مشيراً إلى أن استحداث قسم حدائق العلوم والتكنولوجيا يمثل جسراً لتحويل النظريات إلى مشاريع إنتاجية تخدم الاقتصاد الوطني. بعد ذلك استعرض الأستاذ الدكتور محمد منصور الخفاجي إحصائيات تعكس صدارة الجامعة بإقامة 457 نشاطاً متنوعاً (معارض، دورات، مسابقات) وتحقيق 230 مشروعاً ريادياً ممولاً حكومياً للطلبة والخريجين كذلك تسجيل 448 طالباً وخريجاً فعلياً في برامج الريادة. وقد وصول عدد المتقدمين إلى 3550 متقدماً على مستوى محافظات الفرات الأوسط. تضمن البرنامج عرضاً تقديمياً حول واقع الريادة في العراق، تلاه حلقة حوارية تفاعلية استعرضت قصص نجاح ملهمة لشباب حولوا التحديات إلى فرص، مع تسليط الضوء على آليات التسجيل الرقمية الجديدة التي تهدف لتبسيط الإجراءات الإدارية. في ختام الحفل، كرم رئيس الجامعة المبدعين بـ "درع الإبداع"، شمل التكريم الأستاذ الدكتور محمد منصور الخفاجي (المساعد العلمي) والمدرس المساعد حنين علي حليم والسيدة تقى يوسف الفتلاوي وذلك تثميناً لجهودهم الاستثنائية في ترسيخ ثقافة الابتكار وإنجاح مهام قسم حدائق العلوم والتكنولوجيا وشعبة التأهيل والتوظيف. احمد ابراهيم
