In 1988, the College of Engineering became the first engineering college in the densely populated Middle Euphrates region. The departments of civil, and mechanical engineering were the first to be established, followed by the departments of electrical, chemical, environmental, architecture, and biomedical engineering.

The University of Babylon is one of the largest universities in Iraq. It is situated on the banks of the Euphrates River in the province of Babil in central Iraq. ترأست السيدة عميد كلية طب الأسنان بجامعة بابل، الأستاذ الدكتورة سهى عبد الحسين هندي، اجتماعاً موسعاً للكادر المتقدم وتدريسيي فرع العلوم الأساسية في الكلية. جرى الاجتماع بحضور رئيس الفرع الأستاذ الدكتور حيدر حميد الحيدري، والمدرس المساعد جعفر صادق أمين مجلس الكلية، بالإضافة إلى حضور فاعل من كافة تدريسيي ومنتسبي الفرع. أبرز ما تناوله الاجتماع تطوير المناهج الدراسية حيث ناقش الاجتماع سبل تحديث الخطط الدراسية بما يتواكب مع التطورات العالمية في علوم الطب الأساسية، لضمان بناء قاعدة علمية رصينة لطلبة الكلية. وتعزيز البحث العلمي حيث حثت الدكتورة هندي التدريسيين على تكثيف النشر في المجلات العالمية الرصينة (ضمن مستوعبات Scopus وClarivate)، مؤكدةً دعم العمادة الكامل للمشاريع البحثية المبتكرة. كذلك تناول اللقاء آليات تطبيق معايير الجودة الشاملة في المختبرات العلمية والقاعات الدراسية، لضمان مخرجات تعليمية تلبي متطلبات المهنة. وقد تم استعراض سير العملية التدريسية للفصل الدراسي الحالي، مع التركيز على تذليل العقبات أمام الطلبة وتقديم الدعم الأكاديمي اللازم لهم. وخلال اللقاء، أشادت الدكتورة سهى عبد الحسين هندي بالجهود المبذولة من قبل ملاكات فرع العلوم الأساسية، واصفةً إياهم بـ "الركيزة الأساسية" التي تنطلق منها المعرفة الطبية التخصصية. وأكدت على أهمية العمل بروح الفريق الواحد للارتقاء بمستوى الكلية وتصنيفها المحلي والدولي. اختتم الاجتماع بسلسلة من التوجيهات التي ركزت على: تفعيل الندوات العلمية وورش العمل التخصصية. الاهتمام بالجانب العملي في المختبرات وتطوير أساليب التقييم. استمرار التواصل المباشر بين رئاسة الفرع والعمادة لضمان انسيابية العمل الإداري والأكاديمي. احمد ابراهيم
