In 1988, the College of Engineering became the first engineering college in the densely populated Middle Euphrates region. The departments of civil, and mechanical engineering were the first to be established, followed by the departments of electrical, chemical, environmental, architecture, and biomedical engineering.

The University of Babylon is one of the largest universities in Iraq. It is situated on the banks of the Euphrates River in the province of Babil in central Iraq. في إطار السعي المتواصل للارتقاء بالبنى التحتية الأكاديمية والخدمية، أجرى المساعد الإداري لرئيس جامعة بابل، الأستاذ الدكتور ميثاق طالب الجبوري، زيارة تفقدية استثنائية لكلية طب الأسنان، بهدف الوقوف ميدانياً على احتياجات الكلية ومشاريعها المستقبلية. رافق السيد المساعد في جولته وفدٌ ضم كلاً من: الأستاذ الدكتور مهند عباس الشلاه (عميد كلية الطب). ومدير قسم الإعمار والمشاريع في رئاسة الجامعة. ومدير قسم الديوان في رئاسة الجامعة. وكان في استقبال الوفد الزائر الأستاذ الدكتورة سهى عبد الحسين هندي، عميد كلية طب الأسنان، ومعاون العميد للشؤون الإدارية المدرس الدكتور حسن محسن الرماحي، فضلاً عن مسؤول شعبة شؤون الديوان في الكلية. شهدت الزيارة جولة تفقدية شاملة في أروقة الكلية، تلاها اجتماع موسع لمناقشة عدة ملفات حيوية، أبرزها: التركيز على معالجة وتطوير "القوس الهلالي" وتأهيل بعض المرافق الأساسية في بناية العيادات الطبية التعليمية لضمان استمرارية العمل بكفاءة عالية. والتباحث في المشاريع الاستراتيجية التي تهدف إلى توسعة القاعات الدراسية وتطوير المختبرات التخصصية بما يتناسب مع الزيادة المطردة في أعداد الطلبة. والتأكيد على ضرورة تهيئة بيئة تعليمية وعلاجية مثالية في العيادات التعليمية، كونها تمثل حلقة الوصل بين الجامعة والمجتمع من خلال الخدمات الطبية التي تقدمها للمواطنين. وقد أكد الأستاذ الدكتور ميثاق الجبوري خلال الزيارة أن رئاسة الجامعة تضع ملف تطوير كلية طب الأسنان ضمن أولوياتها، مشدداً على أن "دعم البنى التحتية للقطاع الطبي التعليمي هو استثمار مباشر في كفاءة المخرجات الطبية المستقبلية". احمد ابراهيم
