In 1988, the College of Engineering became the first engineering college in the densely populated Middle Euphrates region. The departments of civil, and mechanical engineering were the first to be established, followed by the departments of electrical, chemical, environmental, architecture, and biomedical engineering.

بتوجيه مباشر ومتابعة حثيثة من قبل السيدة عميد كلية طب الأسنان بجامعة بابل، الأستاذ الدكتورة سهى عبد الحسين هندي المحترمة، وفي إطار سعي الكلية لتعزيز إجراءات السلامة والأمان وتوفير بيئة تعليمية آمنة، نفذت وحدة الدفاع المدني في الكلية حملة موسعة وشاملة. أشرف على تنفيذ الحملة السيد جواد عبد الكاظم، مسؤول وحدة الدفاع المدني، حيث تضمنت الإجراءات ما يلي: الفحص الدوري: إجراء كشف تقني على كافة مطافئ الحريق اليدوية والذاتية (التلقائية) الموزعة في أروقة الكلية والمختبرات. والصيانة والتحديث: صيانة الأجهزة والتأكد من جاهزية صمامات الأمان ومؤشرات الضغط. والاختبار الميداني: تم إجراء ممارسة عملية لاختبار كفاءة أجهزة الإطفاء لضمان استجابتها السريعة في حالات الطوارئ. تميزت هذه الحملة بإجراء تجربة مقارنة حية بين قنينة إطفاء (مسحوق جاف) منتهية الصلاحية وأخرى صالحة للاستخدام. والهدف من خلال هذه المقارنة تبيان الفارق الجوهري في سرعة إخماد النيران. والتأكيد على خطورة الاعتماد على الأجهزة القديمة التي قد تخذل المستخدم لحظة الحريق. ورفع مستوى الثقافة الوقائية لدى الكوادر التدريسية والوظيفية. تأتي هذه النشاطات ضمن خطة الكلية السنوية لدرء المخاطر والحفاظ على الأرواح والممتلكات العامة، والتأكد من مطابقة جميع مرافق الكلية لمعايير السلامة المهنية العالمية. احمد ابراهيم
