In 1988, the College of Engineering became the first engineering college in the densely populated Middle Euphrates region. The departments of civil, and mechanical engineering were the first to be established, followed by the departments of electrical, chemical, environmental, architecture, and biomedical engineering.

The University of Babylon is one of the largest universities in Iraq. It is situated on the banks of the Euphrates River in the province of Babil in central Iraq. في أجواء مفعمة بمشاعر الامتنان وبصمةٍ تملؤها المودة، وضمن سلسلة الاحتفاء بتخرج الدفعة العشرين في كلية طب الأسنان بجامعة بابل، قدّم طلبة المرحلة الخامسة "درع الدفعة" تعبيراً عن شكرهم وتقديرهم للجهود التي رافقت مسيرتهم العلمية. استُهلت المبادرة بتقديم الدرع إلى السيدة عميد الكلية، الأستاذ الدكتورة سهى عبد الحسين هندي، تثميناً لرعايتها الأبوية ودعمها المستمر للطلبة طيلة سنوات الدراسة، ودورها في تذليل العقبات للوصول بهم إلى أعتاب التخرج والمهنية العالية. كما شمل التكريم السيد معاون العميد للشؤون الإدارية، المدرس الدكتور حسن محسن الرماحي، تقديراً لجهوده التنظيمية والإدارية المتميزة التي ساهمت في استقرار ودعم المسيرة التعليمية للطلبة، واللجنة المنظمة لحفل التخرج السادة مسؤولي شعب الإعلام والنشاطات الطلابية والمتابعة التي واصلت الليل بالنهار لإظهار الفرحة بصورة تليق باسم الجامعة وطلبتها. تأتي هذه الالتفاتة من قبل "أطباء المستقبل" لتؤكد على عمق الروابط بين الطلبة وإدارة الكلية، معتبرين أن هذا الدرع ليس مجرد رمز، بل هو رسالة اعتزاز بمؤسسة علمتهم أن مهنة طب الأسنان هي رسالة إنسانية قبل أن تكون مساراً علمياً. احمد ابراهيم
