In 1988, the College of Engineering became the first engineering college in the densely populated Middle Euphrates region. The departments of civil, and mechanical engineering were the first to be established, followed by the departments of electrical, chemical, environmental, architecture, and biomedical engineering.

The University of Babylon is one of the largest universities in Iraq. It is situated on the banks of the Euphrates River in the province of Babil in central Iraq. استقبلت السيدة عميد كلية طب الأسنان في جامعة بابل، الأستاذ الدكتورة سهى عبد الحسين هندي، نقيب أطباء الأسنان في العراق الدكتور أركان مسلم العزاوي، في زيارة رسمية هدفت إلى تعزيز أواصر التعاون بين المؤسسة الأكاديمية والنقابة المهنية. شهد اللقاء حضور المعاون الإداري المدرس الدكتور حسن محسن الرماحي، ونخبة من تدريسيي وكوادر الكلية. وتضمنت الزيارة جولة ومباحثات ركزت على النقاط التالية: أولها توطيد العلاقات: بحث سبل التنسيق المشترك بين النقابة والكلية لدعم مخرجات التعليم الطبي بما يخدم المهنة. ثانيا تطوير الكوادر: مناقشة آليات دعم أطباء الأسنان الجدد وتسهيل انخراطهم في العمل النقابي والمهني بعد التخرج. واخيرا دراسة الواقع الأكاديمي والمهني: استعراض التطورات العلمية في الكلية ومواءمتها مع متطلبات سوق العمل والمعايير النقابية الدولية. "وقد أكدت السيدة العميد إن تكامل الأدوار بين الكليات التخصصية والنقابة هو الحجر الأساس لرفع مستوى الخدمات الطبية المقدمة للمواطن وضمان حقوق أطباء الأسنان." حيث تأتي هذه الزيارة في إطار سعي كلية طب الأسنان بجامعة بابل لفتح آفاق التعاون مع المؤسسات القطاعية، بما يضمن بقاء الكلية في طليعة المؤسسات التعليمية التي ترفد المجتمع بكفاءات طبية متميزة، وبما يعزز من مكانة طبيب الأسنان العراقي محلياً وإقليمياً. احمد ابراهيم
