In 1988, the College of Engineering became the first engineering college in the densely populated Middle Euphrates region. The departments of civil, and mechanical engineering were the first to be established, followed by the departments of electrical, chemical, environmental, architecture, and biomedical engineering.

The University of Babylon is one of the largest universities in Iraq. It is situated on the banks of the Euphrates River in the province of Babil in central Iraq. The institution is made up of 21 colleges spread across three main locations in Hilla. The central university campus is in the medical colleges complex in the center of Hilla -Al-Iskan.

تحت رعاية معالي وزير التعليم العالي والبحث العلمي الدكتور نعيم العبودي، وبإشراف مباشر من رئيس جامعة بابل الأستاذ الدكتور أمين عجيل الياسري، احتفت جامعة بابل بتخرج الدورة الثانية والثلاثين (دورة التميز والإبداع) للعام الدراسي 2024-2025. وقد شهد الحفل مشاركة فاعلة لـ كلية طب الأسنان متمثلة بعميدتها الأستاذ الدكتورة سهى عبد الحسين هندي، ورؤساء الفروع العلمية، ومنتسيبي شعبتي النشاطات الطلابية والإعلام والطلبة الثلاثة الأوائل. وقد أعلن رئيس الجامعة، الدكتور أمين عجيل الياسري، خلال كلمته عن استئناف الحفل المركزي بعد توقف دام 11 عاماً، مؤكداً أن هذا المحفل يجسد عودة التقاليد الأكاديمية العريقة واحتفاءً بـ 5786 خريجاً وخريجة من مختلف التخصصات (الدراستين الصباحية والمسائية). استعرض الدكتور الياسري خلال الحفل نقلة الجامعة النوعية نحو التحول الرقمي والعالمية، مبيناً أهم المنجزات: في الحوكمة الإلكترونية إطلاق 14 برنامجاً متكاملاً. وفي التصنيفات العالمية: التواجد في 7 تصنيفات دولية ومحلية مع الاستعداد لدخول 4 أخرى. وفي البحث العلمي: نشر 1703 بحثاً في مستوعبات "سكوباس" والحصول على 391 براءة اختراع. وفي التعاون الدولي: استقطاب 58 طالباً أجنبياً ضمن برنامج "ادرس في العراق" وتوقيع 42 اتفاقية توأمة دولية. وفي التطوير العمراني: إنجاز 15 مشروعاً حيوياً وتقديم 143 برنامجاً استشارياً لخدمة المجتمع. تضمن الحفل مراسم منح درجة البكالوريوس وترديد القسم الجامعي، تخللها قصيدة شعرية بعنوان (خذ المعارف) ألقاها الطالب عباس غني الزاملي. واختُتم الحفل بتكريم الطلبة الأوائل على مستوى الجامعة والكليات. كما شمل التكريم أوائل الكليات كافة، ومن بينهم متميزو كلية طب الأسنان، الذين أعربوا عن فخرهم بهذا الإنجاز وامتنانهم لجامعتهم التي وفرت لهم بيئة تعليمية رصينة. وقد نظمت الاحتفالية بمشاركة فاعلة من قبل قسم الإعلام والاتصال الحكومي وقسم النشاطات الطلابية في رئاسة الجامعة. احمد ابراهيم
