In 1988, the College of Engineering became the first engineering college in the densely populated Middle Euphrates region. The departments of civil, and mechanical engineering were the first to be established, followed by the departments of electrical, chemical, environmental, architecture, and biomedical engineering.

The University of Babylon is one of the largest universities in Iraq. It is situated on the banks of the Euphrates River in the province of Babil in central Iraq. برعاية السيد رئيس جامعة بابل الأستاذ الدكتور أمين عجيل الياسري المحترم وإشراف السيدة عميد كلية طب الأسنان الأستاذ الدكتورة سهى عبد الحسين هندي المحترمة، أقامت وحدة الإرشاد النفسي والتوجيه الجامعي ندوة توعوية بالتعاون مع شعبة الإعلام وشعبة النشاطات الطلابية ووحدة التعليم المستمر ووحدة شؤون المرأة في الكلية بعنوان "احذر المخدرات الإلكترونية". حاضر فيها كل من الدكتور غدير كاظم بيرم من دائرة صحة بابل، والعميد حيدر مرزة سرحان والمشاور القانوني سلام عيسى سرحان من مديرية شؤون المخدرات والمؤثرات العقلية في بابل، بإدارة مسؤول الوحدة المدرس المساعد زينب عبد خلف. وكان باستقبال الضيوف السيدة العميد بحضور معاون العميد للشؤون العلمية أستاذ مساعد دكتور حسن فليح الوطيفي ومعاون العميد للشؤون الإدارية مدرس دكتور حسن محسن الرماحي، حيث تم تكريم الضيوف بشهادة تقديرية تثمينًا لجهودهم المبذولة في إقامة هكذا ندوات توعوية. حضر الندوة عدد كبير من تدريسيي وموظفي وطلبة الكلية، حيث تناولت الندوة المحاور الأساسية التالية: - التعريف بالمخدرات الإلكترونية ومخاطرها: تم تقديم شرح مفصل حول مفهوم المخدرات الرقمية أو الإلكترونية (مثل الضربات الثنائية - Binaural Beats - والملفات الصوتية والبصرية ذات الترددات المحددة)، وتوضيح كيفية تأثيرها على الموجات الدماغية والوظائف العقلية والنفسية، وما تسببه من إدمان وتأثيرات سلبية مشابهة للمخدرات التقليدية. - طرق الترويج والوقوع في الفخ: استعراض الأساليب الحديثة والمضللة التي يعتمدها مروجو هذه الآفة عبر الإنترنت ومنصات التواصل الاجتماعي لاستهداف الشباب والطلبة، وكيفية تجنب الوقوع في هذا النوع الجديد والخطير من الإدمان الرقمي. - الجانب القانوني والردع: تناول المشاور القانوني والعميد من مديرية مكافحة المخدرات الإطار القانوني والتشريعات العراقية المتعلقة بالمخدرات بشكل عام، وتسليط الضوء على عقوبة تداول وترويج هذه المواد، مع التأكيد على دور المؤسسات الأمنية في مكافحتها وتقديم الدعم للضحايا. - دور الأسرة والمؤسسة التعليمية: التأكيد على أهمية دور الأسرة والمحيط الاجتماعي والجامعة في التوعية المستمرة وتنمية الوعي لدى الطلبة حول خطورة هذه الظاهرة، وضرورة استغلال أوقات الفراغ في أنشطة إيجابية وبناءة لتعزيز الصحة النفسية والابتعاد عن أي سلوكيات ضارة. - الإجراءات الوقائية والإرشادية: تقديم نصائح عملية للطلبة لتعزيز الأمن السيبراني والحفاظ على الخصوصية، وسبل طلب المساعدة الإرشادية والنفسية لمن يشعر بالانجراف نحو أي نوع من أنواع الإدمان. احمد ابراهيم
