In 1988, the College of Engineering became the first engineering college in the densely populated Middle Euphrates region. The departments of civil, and mechanical engineering were the first to be established, followed by the departments of electrical, chemical, environmental, architecture, and biomedical engineering.

في خطوة لتعزيز الوعي الصحي والعلمي، أقامت كلية طب الأسنان بجامعة بابل دورة تدريبية علمية متخصصة تحت عنوان "دور الأعشاب الطبية في زيادة المناعة والحد من الإصابة بالبكتيريا والسرطانات". جاءت الدورة برعاية كريمة من السيد رئيس جامعة بابل، الأستاذ الدكتور أمين عجيل الياسري المحترم، وإشراف السيدة عميد كلية طب الأسنان، الأستاذ الدكتورة سهى عبد الحسين هندي المحترمة. ونظمتها وحدة التعليم المستمر بالتعاون مع شعبة الإعلام وشعبة النشاطات الطلابية في الكلية. ركزت الدورة على الأهمية المتزايدة للمركبات الطبيعية في الحفاظ على صحة الإنسان ووقايته من الأمراض المزمنة والمعدية، حيث تناولت محاور علمية معمقة شملت: - الكركم (Turmeric): تم تسليط الضوء على مادة "الكركمين" (Curcumin) كمركب أساسي يمتلك خصائص قوية مضادة للالتهاب والأكسدة، ودوره الفعال في إزالة السموم من الجسم وتقوية الجهاز المناعي لمحاربة الجراثيم والبكتيريا، فضلاً عن خصائصه الواعدة في الوقاية من أمراض القلب والزهايمر والسرطان. - الزنجبيل (Ginger): استعرض المحاضرون الآليات التي يعمل بها الزنجبيل لتقوية المناعة، بما في ذلك عمله كمضاد للالتهابات ومنع الفيروسات من الالتصاق بالجهاز التنفسي، ومساهمته في إزالة الاحتقان. - أعشاب أخرى ودورها الوقائي: تناول الخبراء دور أعشاب طبية أخرى مثل الثوم والبصل وورق الزيتون والحبة السوداء (حبة البركة)، وكيف تساهم مكوناتها النشطة في تحفيز الخلايا المناعية ومكافحة العدوى البكتيرية والفيروسية ووقف نمو بعض الخلايا السرطانية. - آليات العمل الجزيئية: شملت الدورة شرحاً علمياً لآلية عمل المكونات الفعالة في هذه الأعشاب على المستوى الخلوي والجزيئي، وتأثيرها على مسارات الالتهاب والأكسدة في الجسم. حاضر في الدورة نخبة من الكفاءات العلمية في الكلية، وهم: الأستاذ المساعد الدكتور حسن فليح الوطيفي، والأستاذ الدكتور فاطمة مالك عبود، والأستاذ المساعد الدكتورة رشا جاسم موسى، والمدرس الدكتور بان حسين علوش، والمدرس المساعد قبس منعم عبد محمد. تأتي هذه الدورة ضمن جهود كلية طب الأسنان المستمرة لتزويد منتسبيها وطلبتها بأحدث المستجدات العلمية في مجال الصحة والطب البديل والتكميلي، ودمج المعرفة التقليدية بأحدث النتائج البحثية لدعم الوقاية والرعاية الصحية. احمد ابراهيم
