In 1988, the College of Engineering became the first engineering college in the densely populated Middle Euphrates region. The departments of civil, and mechanical engineering were the first to be established, followed by the departments of electrical, chemical, environmental, architecture, and biomedical engineering.

نشر المدرس الدكتور حسن محسن الرماحي معاون العميد للشؤون الإدارية والتدريسي في كلية طب الأسنان جامعة بابل بحثه العلمي المشترك مع كوكبة من أساتذة بعض الكليات في الجامعات العراقية عنوان البحث (Harnessing Antarctic Krill for Nano-Fluorapatite Synthesis: A Novel Biomimetic Approach for Dental Applications)، (تسخير كائن الكريل البحري لتخليق النانو فلوراباتيت: طريقة حيوية جديدة لمختلف تطبيقات طب الأسنان). البحث كان نتاج عمل لفريق بحثي مميز من مجموعة من الباحثين منتمين إلى جامعة بابل كلية طب الأسنان -الجامعة العراقية / كلية طب الأسنان - جامعة المثنى / كلية الصيدلة - جامعة UM الماليزية / كلية العلوم / قسم الكيمياء. يهدف البحث إلى استخدام طريقة مبتكرة لتصنيع مادة نانوية Nano fluorapatite من اغلف بعض الكائنات البحرية لاستخدامها في مختلف تطبيقات طب الأسنان. تم نشر البحث في احدى المجلات الهندية الرائدة في هذا المجال Journal of the Indian chemical Society والتابعة إلى دار النشر Elsevier والمصنفة ضمن قاعدة بيانات Scopus بسايت سكور sitescore 5.8 , ضمن مجلات الربع الثاني في مجال الاختصاص Q2, وكذلك مصنفة في الـ WoS بمعامل تأثير 3.4 للمهتمين رابط البحث: https://www.sciencedirect.com/.../abs/pii/S0019452225002808 احمد إبراهيم
