In 1988, the College of Engineering became the first engineering college in the densely populated Middle Euphrates region. The departments of civil, and mechanical engineering were the first to be established, followed by the departments of electrical, chemical, environmental, architecture, and biomedical engineering.

برعاية السيد رئيس جامعة بابل الاستاذ الدكتور امين عجيل الياسري المحترم واشراف السيدة عميد كلية طب الاسنان الاستاذ الدكتورة سهى عبد الحسين هندي المحترمة اقامت وحدة الصحة والسلامة المهنية بالتعاون مع شعبة الإعلام ورشة عمل (حول كيفية التعامل مع النفايات الطبية لمنتسبي العيادات التعليمية) حاضر فيها المدرس المساعد ريم اكرم ناجي والمدرس المساعد دنيا عباس خضير. بينت الورشة التعامل السليم مع النفايات الطبية هو مسؤولية مشتركة بين جميع منتسبي العيادات التعليمية. من خلال الامتثال للقوانين واللوائح والتدريب المستمر، يمكننا الحفاظ على الصحة العامة والبيئة. بينت أهمية التعامل السليم مع النفايات الطبية من خلال الحفاظ على الصحة العامة: التعامل السليم مع النفايات الطبية يمنع انتشار الأمراض والعدوى. حماية البيئة : النفايات الطبية يمكن أن تلوث البيئة إذا لم يتم التعامل معها بشكل صحيح. الامتثال للقوانين : الامتثال للقوانين واللوائح المتعلقة بالنفايات الطبية يمنع العقوبات والمخالفات. كذلك صنفت أنواع النفايات الطبية النفايات المعدية : النفايات التي تحتوي على مواد معدية مثل الدم والأنسجة. النفايات الكيميائية : النفايات التي تحتوي على مواد كيميائية خطرة. النفايات الإشعاعية : النفايات التي تحتوي على مواد إشعاعية. وقد بينت إجراءات التعامل مع النفايات الطبية على عدة خطوات التجميع : تجميع النفايات الطبية في حاويات مخصصة وآمنة. التخزين : تخزين النفايات الطبية في أماكن مخصصة وآمنة. النقل : نقل النفايات الطبية إلى أماكن التخلص منها بشكل آمن. التخلص : التخلص من النفايات الطبية بشكل آمن وصحي. كذلك بينت دور منتسبي العيادات التعليمية التدريب : الحصول على التدريب اللازم للتعامل مع النفايات الطبية. الامتثال للقوانين : الامتثال للقوانين واللوائح المتعلقة بالنفايات الطبية. التوعية : نشر الوعي حول أهمية التعامل السليم مع النفايات الطبية. احمد إبراهيم
