In 1988, the College of Engineering became the first engineering college in the densely populated Middle Euphrates region. The departments of civil, and mechanical engineering were the first to be established, followed by the departments of electrical, chemical, environmental, architecture, and biomedical engineering.

برعاية السيد رئيس جامعة بابل الأستاذ الدكتور أمين عجيل الياسري المحترم وبإشراف السيدة عميد كلية طب الاسنان الاستاذ الدكتورة سهى عبد الحسين هندي المحترمة اقامت شعبة الجودة وبالتعاون مع وحدة السلامة المهنية ووحدة التعليم المستمر وشعبة الإعلام في الكليةورشة عمل بعنوان (أثر الطاقة النظيفة على البيئة) حاضر فيها م.د. دولت عبد الباري و م.م. أيناس ضاحي. اوضحت الورشة أهمية الطاقة المتجددة وتاثيرها على البيئة حيث ظهرت الطاقة المتجددة بعد توجه العالم الكبير نحو الطاقة غير المتجددة والتي أوشكت على النفاد، وهذا ما يفسر لجوء الباحثين والمهندسين لتسخير الطاقة المتجددة كالشمس والرياح وحرارة الأرض والبحار والجزر والمواد العضوية، في إنتاج الكهرباء التي لا يخلو أي منزل في هذا العالم من استخدامها، والتي تعد العامل الأساسي للعالم من كافة الجوانب كالجانب العسكري، الصناعي، التجاري، والمنزلي. احمد ابراهيم
