In 1988, the College of Engineering became the first engineering college in the densely populated Middle Euphrates region. The departments of civil, and mechanical engineering were the first to be established, followed by the departments of electrical, chemical, environmental, architecture, and biomedical engineering.

The University of Babylon is one of the largest universities in Iraq. It is situated on the banks of the Euphrates River in the province of Babil in central Iraq. شارك الاستاذ الدكتور بهاء حمدي العميدي التدريسي في كلية طب الاسنان جامعة بابل في الورشة الدولية المقامة من قبل مؤسسة الروىء للتعليم و للتنميه المستدامة بعنوان (فهم السيطره على مرض الحمى القلاعية) تناولت الورشة بعض المعلومات عن اماكن تواجد هذا المرض في اسيا وافريقيا والشرق الاوسط وامريكا الجنوبية ويصيب الماشية والاغنام والابقار والجاموس والغزلان والجنازير ففي العام 2022 تفشى المرض اسيا في الصين والهند وفي العام 2023 تفشى المرض في دول افريقيا بسبب تنقل هذه الحيوانات عبر الحدود في شرق افريقيا. وفي هدا العام 2025 حصلت الاصابات في العراق حاليا وهو مرض فايروسي شديد العدوى وممكن ان يوثر على الحيونات الاليفه والبريه ذات الحوافر المشقوقه وعادة ما تعاني الحيوانات المصابه من الحمى والافات الحويصليه (الشبيهه بالبثور) وتقرحات على الاسطح الداخليه للفم وحول الفم وداخل الفم واللسان والكمامة والاقدام والحلمات ويمكن ان تكون معدلات المرض مرتفعه في في جميع الانواع المعرضه للاصابه مما يودي الى انخفاص في معدلات انتاج اللحوم والحليب مع ارتفاع في نسب الوفيات للحيوانات المصابه وطالبت الورشه بتظافر الجهود من قبل مربي الابقار والجاموس والجهات البيطريه بضروره اعتماد اللقاحات في كافه انواعها وكذلك الاخبار عن حالات الاصابه لغرض قيام الجهات البيطريه المختصة باتخاذ كافه الاجراءات المطلوبه لغرض القضاء على المرض والحد من انتشاره وقد شارك في الورشه العديد من الاشخاص المختصين بتربيه المواشي والاطباء البيطريين. احمد ابراهيم
