In 1988, the College of Engineering became the first engineering college in the densely populated Middle Euphrates region. The departments of civil, and mechanical engineering were the first to be established, followed by the departments of electrical, chemical, environmental, architecture, and biomedical engineering.

The University of Babylon is one of the largest universities in Iraq. It is situated on the banks of the Euphrates River in the province of Babil in central Iraq. The institution is made up of 21 colleges spread across three main locations in Hilla. The central university campus is in the medical colleges complex in the center of Hilla -Al-Iskan.

شاركت عميد كلية طب الاسنان السيدة الاستاذ الدكتورة سهى عبد الحسين هندي المحترمة في القاء الذي اجراه رئيس جامعة بابل السيد الاستاذ الدكتور امين عجيل الياسري المحترم مع الطلبة الوافدين الى جامعة بابل المنعقد للاستماع إلى مشاكل "الطلبة الوافدين" وتذليل العقبات ضمن مبادرة (ادرس في العراق)، الذي أطلقته وزارة التعليم العالي والبحث العلمي، بهدف استقطاب الطلبة من مختلف الجنسيات للدراسة في الجامعات العراقية . وترأس الورشة السيد رئيس الجامعة، وأدارها السيد مساعد رئيس الجامعة للشؤون العلمية الأستاذ الدكتور محمد منصور الخفاجي، ومدير قسم البعثات والعلاقات الثقافية الدكتور احمد فوزي المعموري، بحضور عدد من عمداء الكليات وممثلي الأقسام والشعب ذات العلاقة في الكليات ورئاسة الجامعة . وشدد السيد رئيس الجامعة على بذل أقصى الجهود لحل المشاكل والمعوقات بأسرع وقت ممكن، مشددين على أهمية مبادرة (ادرس في العراق) في تعزيز التبادل الثقافي والأكاديمي، وإظهار الصورة الحقيقية للعراق وشعبه . وأشار الطلبة الوافدون إلى أن من أبرز المشاكل التي تواجههم تتعلق بموضوعة الكفالة والإقامة، بالإضافة إلى بعض الإجراءات الإدارية الأخرى . وناقشت الورشة أيضا موضوعات عدة منها ما يتعلق بالتعامل مع قضية التأجيل والانسحاب ،الأقسام الداخلية، صحة صدور الوثائق ،هويات الطلبة ،استقبال الطلبة الوافدين ،الفحص الطبي، الرسوم . ووعد السيد رئيس الجامعة بمخاطبة الجهات المعنية في وزارة التعليم العالي والبحث العلمي، من أجل تذليل هذه العقبات وتسهيل إجراءات إقامة الطلبة وتأمين الكفالة اللازمة لهم . كما أكد على أن جامعة بابل حريصة على توفير كافة سبل الدعم والرعاية للطلبة الوافدين، وتهيئة الأجواء المناسبة لهم للدراسة والتحصيل العلمي . وفي ختام اللقاء أعرب الطلبة الوافدون عن شكرهم وتقديرهم لجامعة بابل على حسن الاستقبال والاهتمام، مؤكدين حرصهم على أن يكونوا خير سفراء لبلدهم في العراق . احمد ابراهيم
