In 1988, the College of Engineering became the first engineering college in the densely populated Middle Euphrates region. The departments of civil, and mechanical engineering were the first to be established, followed by the departments of electrical, chemical, environmental, architecture, and biomedical engineering.

The University of Babylon is one of the largest universities in Iraq. It is situated on the banks of the Euphrates River in the province of Babil in central Iraq. The institution is made up of 21 colleges spread across three main locations in Hilla. The central university campus is in the medical colleges complex in the center of Hilla -Al-Iskan.

برعاية رئيس جامعة بابل الأستاذ الدكتور أمين عجيل الياسري وإشراف عميد كلية طب الأسنان الأستاذ الدكتور سهى عبد الحسين هندي وتنفيذا لأهداف الخطة الاستراتيجية الوطنية للمرأة العراقية 2024-2025 المحور الخامس أقامت وحدة شؤون المرأة بالتعاون مع شعبة الإعلام ووحدة التعليم المستمر بعنوان (مساهمة المرأة في تحقيق التنمية المستدامة). حاضرت فيها المدرس المساعد زينب علي محمود من الجامعة الإسلامية في دولة لبنان الشقيق بحضور عميد الكلية والمعاون العلمي أستاذ مساعد دكتور حسن فليح الوطيفي والمعاون الإداري مدرس دكتور ميثم رياض وعضوة ارتباط وحدة شؤون المرأة الأستاذ المساعد الدكتورة زينب هادي كامل مسؤول وحدة التعليم المستمر المدرس المساعد صفاء حكيم وعدد كبير من تدريسيي وموظفي وطلبة الكلية. تضمنت الندوة تعريف التنمية المستدامة على انه مفهوم يهدف إلى تلبية احتياجات الجيل الحالي دون المساس بقدرة الأجيال القادمة على تلبية احتياجاتهم. يشمل هذا المفهوم الجوانب الاقتصادية والاجتماعية والبيئية، مما يؤدي إلى تحسين جودة الحياة وتعزيز الرفاهية لكل من البشر وكوكب الأرض. وأهمية التنمية المستدامة تكمن في تحسين نوعية الحياة: من خلال تحقيق مستويات أعلى من التعليم والرعاية الصحية والرفاهية العامة والحفاظ على البيئة: من الضروري حماية الكوكب من التغيرات المناخية وتدهور البيئة من خلال استراتيجيات مستدامة. أيضا تحقيق العدالة الاجتماعية من خلال تقليل الفجوات الاقتصادية والاجتماعية، مما يسهم في الاستقرار والسلم الاجتماعي. احمد إبراهيم
