In 1988, the College of Engineering became the first engineering college in the densely populated Middle Euphrates region. The departments of civil, and mechanical engineering were the first to be established, followed by the departments of electrical, chemical, environmental, architecture, and biomedical engineering.

اقام قسم النشاطات الطلابية في رئاسة جامعة بابل دورة تدريبية عن (آليات تشكيل الفرقة الكشفية) لمسؤولي وحدات النشاطات الطلابية وقد مثل الكلية السيد سعد رحيم مهدي مسؤول وحدة النشاطات الطلابية في الكلية وذلك يوم الاثنين الموافق 9/10/2023 الساعة العاشرة صباحاً وعلى قاعة قسم النشاطات الطلابية. وقد حاضر فيها كل من السادة التدريسين أ.م.د. احمد كاظم منصور و م. سحر ياسين عباس. وأوضح الاستاذ المساعد الدكتور احمد كاظم منصور الخفاجي مسؤول شعبة النشاط الكشفي في القسم إلى أن الدورة قد تضمنت عدد من المحاور الرئيسة وهي: المحور الاول: تعريف الفرقة الكشفية وأهميتها في النشاط الكشفي. المحور الثاني: تقسيمات الفرقة الكشفية. المحور الثالث: تعريف الرهط والمهام والواجبات لكل عضو في الارهاط. المحور الرابع التسميات المقترنة باسم العشيرة الكشفية وبالارهاط الكشفية ودلالاتها. وقد شارك في الدورة ( 15 ) مسؤول وحدة من مختلف كليات الجامعة احمد ابراهيم
