In 1988, the College of Engineering became the first engineering college in the densely populated Middle Euphrates region. The departments of civil, and mechanical engineering were the first to be established, followed by the departments of electrical, chemical, environmental, architecture, and biomedical engineering.

شاركت رئيس فرع امراض اللثة أ.م.د فاطمة مالك عبود في كلية طب الأسنان جامعة بابل بمناقشة رسالة ماجستير كمشرفة على الطالبة مروة جليل ابراهيم عن رسالتها الموسومة (دراسة مناعية وجزيئيه لبكتريا البروفتيلا المتوسطة بين المرضى المصابين بالتهاب اللثة) (Immunological and molecular study of provotella intermediea among periodontitis patients ) بإشراف أ.م.د فاطمة مالك عبود و ا.م.د. زينب هادي كامل حيث تكونت لجنة المناقشة من أ.د. حيدر شخير عبيس رئيس اللجنة وعضوية أ.م.د هدى عباس محمد وم.د. زياد نزار مجيد. هدفت الدراسة الى قياس الكميات الجزيئية لبكتريا البروفتيلا المتوسطة في مرض التهاب دواعم السن و قياس تركيز(MMP9-4RLT) ,أجريت الدراسة في قسم امراض اللثة /كلية طب الاسنان /جامعة بابل للفترة من (نوفمبر 2022 الى مارس 2023) تم خلالها جمع 90 عينة من المشاركين من بينهم 60 مريض يعانون من التهاب دواعم السن و30 من الاصحاء. وكانت هناك فروق معنوية بين المرضى والاصحاء بمعاملات التهاب اللثة: درجة النزف عند الفحص، فقدان التعلق السريري، عمق الجيب، ونسبة التكلسات. استخدمت تقنية تفاعل سلسلة البلمرة ذات الوقت الحقيقي باستخدام بادئة مخصص للبكتيريا بروفتيلا المتوسطة ومقارنة الاعداد البكتيرية بين المرضى والاصحاء حيث كانت هناك فروق معنوية بين المجموعتين. اظهرت نتائج الدراسة المناعية بزيادة واضحة بتركيز MMP9 و-4TLRفي مجموعة المرضى مقارنة بمجموعة الاصحاء في عينات السائل العنقي اللثوي. أحمد ابراهيم
