In 1988, the College of Engineering became the first engineering college in the densely populated Middle Euphrates region. The departments of civil, and mechanical engineering were the first to be established, followed by the departments of electrical, chemical, environmental, architecture, and biomedical engineering.

The University of Babylon is one of the largest universities in Iraq. It is situated on the banks of the Euphrates River in the province of Babil in central Iraq. برعاية السيد عميد كلية طب الأسنان جامعة بابل الاستاذ الدكتور وسام وهاب صاحب وبالتعاون مع مكتب التصاريح الامنية في جامعة بابل اقامة وحدة الصحة والسلامة المهنية دورة تدريبية لمنتسبي الكلية بعنوان (متطلبات السلامة المهنية والامن) بالتعاون مع شعبة العيادات الخارجية وشعبة الاعلام وشعبة ضمان الجودة ووحدة التعليم الالكتروني ووحدة الدفاع المدني حاضر في الدورة لليوم الاول السيدة حوراء مظهر كاظم والسيد حيدر عقيل محمد والسيد خضير عباس يوسف من مكتب التصاريح الامنية. ادار الدورة الدكتور ميثم رياض و الدكتور قاسم عبد الكريم والسيد احمد خضر بهجت بحضور عميد الكلية ورئيس نقابة الأكاديميين الاستاذ الدكتور مشتاق الخفاجي وعدد كبير من تدريسيي وموظفي الكلية. تناولت الدورة معايير السلامة والأمن داخل المختبرات العلمية، حيث تطرقت الى شروط ومواصفات المختبرات الكيميائية والبيولوجية كموقع المختبر ومساحة المختبر وارتفاعه وكذلك الى انواع المخاطر في المختبرات التي تنشأ بسبب بيئة العمل غير السليمة او الاداء غير السليم او من الحوادث التي يمكن ان يتعرض لها العاملين في المختبرات كالحريق وتسرب الغازات وتسرب السوائل الكيميائية وانتشار المواد الكيميائية الصلبة وملامسة التيار الكهربائي و ملامسة مواد كيميائية ضاره و ملامسة اجسام ساخنه او السقوط او الاصطدام او الانزلاق وكذلك تناولت الدورة طرق دخول المواد الكيميائية الى الجسم منها عن طريق الجهاز التنفسي او الجهاز الهضمي او الجلد وانواع المواد و عرض مخطط المخاطر كمخاطر الاشتعال ومخاطر النشاط الكيميائي ومخاطر صحيه وخاطر اضافيه مميزه بالإضافة الى عرض درجه الخطورة ورقم الخطورة و عرض نماذج ملصقات المخاطر الكيميائية. كذلك تطرقت الدورة الى كيفية التصرف عند حدوث حريق كقرع اجراس الانذار والتأكد من خروج الجميع من المختبر وطلب المساعدة للاتصال بالدفاع المدني وتأمين خروج امن وفي نهاية المحاضرة تم التطرق الى الاسعافات الأولية في حاله حدوث اصابات والالتزام بقواعد السلامة المهنية أثناء العمل والتأكيد عليها كارتداء الكمامة وارتداء القفاز الواقي للدين وقناع الوجه وجهاز التنفس وارتداء خوذة واقية. احمد ابراهيم
