In 1988, the College of Engineering became the first engineering college in the densely populated Middle Euphrates region. The departments of civil, and mechanical engineering were the first to be established, followed by the departments of electrical, chemical, environmental, architecture, and biomedical engineering.

ضمن متطلبات التخرج لطلبة الدراسات الأولية المرحلة الخامسة وبتوجيه من عميد الكلية الاستاذ الدكتور وسام وهاب صاحب تم مناقشة بحث التخرج لطلبة المرحلة الخامسة ( زهراء مهند طه و بان ابراهيم كاطع و سفانه سعد محمد و مروه حمزه شريم و دنيا براء جميل و نور الهدى حيدر محمد ) بعنوان Effects of age and gender on staging and grading of periodontitis، آثار العمر والجنس على تحديد مراحل ودرجات التهاب الأنسجة المحيطة بالسن، بإشراف مباشر من الدكتورة سرى داخل. تناول البحث التهاب الانسجة المحيطة بالسن هو حالة التهابية تصيب الأسنان والأنسجة الداعمة لها. يعتمد التدرج في التهاب الأنسجة المحيطة بالسن على شدة المرض و تعقيده ، في حين أن التصنيف يهدف إلى تقييم احتمالية تقدم المرض. كانت أهداف الدراسة الحالية هي التعرف على آثار العمر والجنس على مراحل وتصنيف التهاب الأنسجة المحيطة بالسن. المواد وطريقة العمل: تم أخذ العمر والجنس والمستوى التعليمي من (100) مريض مصاب بالتهاب الأنسجة المحيطة بالسن وجميع المشاركين كانوا يتمتعون بصحة جيدة. تم قياس متغيرات دواعم الأسنان السريرية لكل مريض بما في ذلك (مقياس الفلم البكتيري، مقياس نزف اللثة، مقياس انحسار العظم و مقياس الجيب اللثوي) تم تصنيف المرضى إلى مجموعات مختلفة حسب العمر والجنس والتدرج والدرجات لكل مريض ومقارنتها بين المجموعات. النتائج: أظهر التحليل الاحصائي أن أعلى عدد من المرضى جاءوا بالمرحلة الثالثة والدرجة (ب) في الفئة العمرية (31-40)مع وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية بين المجموعات ، بينما لم يكن هناك فرق معنوي في المراحل والدرجات بين الذكور والإناث. الاستنتاج: كان للعمر تأثير على مرحلة ودرجة التهاب الأنسجة المحيطة بالسن بينما لم يكن للجنس أي تأثير على التصنيف والدرجات. احمد ابراهيم
