In 1988, the College of Engineering became the first engineering college in the densely populated Middle Euphrates region. The departments of civil, and mechanical engineering were the first to be established, followed by the departments of electrical, chemical, environmental, architecture, and biomedical engineering.

أقامت شعبة التخطيط والمعلوماتية بالتعاون مع وحدة تمكين المرأة وشعبة الشؤون العلمية في كلية طب الأسنان جامعة بابل وبتوجيه من عميد الكلية الاستاذ الدكتور أمير حمدي العميدي ندوة علمية بعنوان (التطرف العنيف وطرق مكافحته) بحضور عميد الكلية ومعاون العميد للشؤون الإدارية استاذ مساعد دكتور ميسلون زهير حسين وعدد من تدريسيي وموظفي الكلية. وقد حاضر فيها المدرس المساعد اسماء سامي جواد وتناولت الندوة تعريف بمفهوم التطرف العنيف وتاريخ اعتماده من قبل منظمة الامم المتحدة وتعريف الوكالة الدولية الامريكية للمعنى التطرف العنيف وتمييزه عن الارهاب ووصف للخصائص التي تتميز الافراد التي تتسم بالتطرف العنيف وكيفية درء خطر التطرف العنيف وطرق مكافحته حيث دأبت منظمة اليونسكو لإيجاد الحلول الناجعة من اجل القضاء على هذه السلوكيات لدى افراد المجتمع واحتواء الشباب ودمجهم بالمجتمع من خلال منظمات احياء التراث وتسخير وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي والانترنت للقضاء على الافكار التي تتبناها هذه الفئات. احمد ابراهيم
