In 1988, the College of Engineering became the first engineering college in the densely populated Middle Euphrates region. The departments of civil, and mechanical engineering were the first to be established, followed by the departments of electrical, chemical, environmental, architecture, and biomedical engineering.

ناقش فرع الاحياء المجهرية في كلية طب الأسنان جامعة بابل وبرعاية عميد الكلية الاستاذ الدكتور أمير حمدي العميدي رسالة ماجستير في موضوع الاحياء المجهرية الفموية والطبية لطالبة الدراسات العليا الماجستير (غدير لفته هاشم) عن رسالتها الموسومة (دراسة مناعية وراثيه لتسوس الاسنان الصنف الخامس بين مرضى السكري في محافظة بابل) تهدف الدراسة الى قياس بعض المؤشرات المناعية في مجاميع المرضى والسيطرة مثل Il12, crp,cd4,cd8 وكذلك دراسة التغاير الجيني للانترلوكين 12 وحدة الفا بين مجاميع الدراسة. تألفت لجنة المناقشة من الاستاذ الدكتور زهير صادق رزاق رئيساً من طب الاسنان جامعة الكوفة وعضوية كل من الاستاذ الدكتور علاء طارق شاكر الحسناوي من جامعة بابل كلية العلوم وأستاذ مساعد دكتور وسام حامد عيدان من طب الاسنان بابل. واشراف كل من استاذ مساعد دكتور احمد محمد عباس و الاستاذ الدكتور امير حمدي العميدي من طب الاسنان بابل. وبحضور عدد من تدريسيي الكلية وطلبة الدراسات العليا في الكلية. احمد ابراهيم
