In 1988, the College of Engineering became the first engineering college in the densely populated Middle Euphrates region. The departments of civil, and mechanical engineering were the first to be established, followed by the departments of electrical, chemical, environmental, architecture, and biomedical engineering.

عمداء الطب يوصون باستمرار الامتحان التقويمي في الجامعات الحكومية والأهلية ويثنون على تكريس التدريب في مستشفيات الكليات المستحدثة لطلبتها حصرا عقدت لجنة عمداء كليات الطب في العراق اجتماعا ناقشت فيه آليات العمل المشترك وتقييم مستجدات التعليم الطبي في العراق واستحداث الكليات المتخصصة في ضوء المعايير والشروط المعتمدة لدى وزارة التعليم العالي والبحث العلمي. وأكد المجتمعون أن توفر المستشفيات التعليمية المصاحبة لتأسيس كليات الطب في الجامعات الأهلية يمثل عامل اطمئنان ورافدا جديدا من روافد المجال الطبي والصحي مؤكدين أهمية تلك الاستحداثات المشروطة بالمتابعة والإشراف المباشر من لجنة عمداء كليات الطب في العراق التي تتولى إجراء الاختبارات واختيار العمداء وتعيين الكفاءات الطبية ومتابعة الملاك التدريسي والمختبرات والمناهج وقياس انسجامها مع البرامج والأنظمة الدراسية في الجامعات الحكومية. وأثنى عمداء كليات الطب على قرار وزارة التعليم العالي والبحث العلمي بتشغيل المستشفيات المخصصة لكليات الطب المستحدثة بشكل كامل وتكريس التدريب فيها لطلبة الكلية نفسها حصرا وإجراء التوأمة العلمية مع نظيراتها من الجامعات الأجنبية المدرجة ضمن دليل الابتعاث في مدة لا تتجاوز سنة واحدة. وأوضح عمداء كليات الطب في العراق أن قرارات استحداث كليات الطب في الجامعات الأهلية منذ عام 2016 جاءت منسجمة والظروف الموضوعية التي يقتضيها المؤشر المتصاعد لأعداد الطلبة المقبلين على دراسة التخصصات الطبية فضلا عن تخفيف آثار التحديات المالية المحيطة ببيئة الجامعات الحكومية. وتؤكد لجنة العمداء أن مخرجات كليات الطب في العراق معتمدة لدى دول العالم وفي الوقت نفسه توصي باعتماد واستمرار الامتحان التقويمي الشامل لطلبة الكليات الحكومية والأهلية تعزيزا للسمعة الأكاديمية والتزاما بمتطلبات الرصانة العلمية. دائرة العلاقات والإعلام وزارة التعليم العالي والبحث العلمي 16 تشرين الثاني 2022
