In 1988, the College of Engineering became the first engineering college in the densely populated Middle Euphrates region. The departments of civil, and mechanical engineering were the first to be established, followed by the departments of electrical, chemical, environmental, architecture, and biomedical engineering.

ناقش فرع الاحياء المجهرية في كلية طب الأسنان جامعة بابل وبتوجيه من عميد الكلية الاستاذ الدكتور أمير حمدي العميدي رسالة ماجستير في موضوع الاحياء المجهرية الفموية والطبية للطلبة اماني عبد الرزاق حلبوص عن رسالتها الموسومة (دراسة مناعيه وجينيه للانترلوكين -11 و TNF للمصابين بكسور الوجه والفكين في محافظه بابل) . وقد استخدمت تقنية الاليزا وتقنية الترحيل الكهربائي لنماذج الدم والسيرم اضافة الى تقنية ال PCR المستخدمة في الدراسة وتوصلت الى انه توجد علاقه بزياده التركيز بين العوامل المناعية التي تم دراستها والجينات الوراثية للأشخاص المصابين بالكسور عند مقارنتهم بالأشخاص الاصحاء. بحضور معاون العميد للشؤون العلمية مدرس دكتور جميله علي عبد الصاحب ورئيس فرع الاحياء المجهرية استاذ مساعد دكتور احمد محمد عباس ونقيب الأكاديميين العراقيين الاستاذ الدكتور مشتاق الخفاجي وممثل الأكاديميين في الكلية الدكتور قاسم البياتي وعدد من تدريسيي الكلية وطلبة الدراسات العليا. تألفت لجنة المناقشة من استاذ دكتور حسنين خليل ابراهيم رئيساً من علوم بابل وعضوية كل من استاذ مساعد دكتور ميس عماد احمد من علوم بغداد وأستاذ مساعد دكتور ملاذ عزيز جبر من اسنان بابل. احمد ابراهيم
