In 1988, the College of Engineering became the first engineering college in the densely populated Middle Euphrates region. The departments of civil, and mechanical engineering were the first to be established, followed by the departments of electrical, chemical, environmental, architecture, and biomedical engineering.

ناقش فرع الاحياء المجهرية في كلية طب الأسنان جامعة بابل رسالة ماجستير في موضوع الاحياء المجهرية الفموية والطبية لطالبة الدراسات العليا الماجستير (ازهار عبد الله عمران عليوي) برعاية مباشرة من عميد الكلية الاستاذ الدكتور أمير حمدي العميدي حيث حصلت على تقدير امتياز عن رسالتها الموسومة (دراسة تأثير المضادات الحيوية في علاج مرضى التهاب اللثة المزمن من خلال تأثيرها على مستوى البكتريا والمؤشرات الحيوية)، (The effect of systemic antibiotics in treatment of chronic periodontitis on microbial and salivary biomarker findings). تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى قياس تأثير العلاج على عدد البكتيريا ( Tannerella forsythia ) وعلى مستوى البايوماركر (MMP_8) وكانت النتائج هناك نقصان في كل منهما بأستخدام العلاج. وتمت المناقشة بحضور عميد الكلية الاستاذ الدكتور أمير حمدي العميدي وعدد من رؤساء الفروع العلمية وتدريسيي الكلية وطلبة الدراسات العليا. وتألفت لجنة المناقشة من استاذ دكتور مهدي حسين محيل رئيساً من علوم الكوفة وعضوية كل من استاذ مساعد دكتور نور سلمان كاظم من علوم بابل وأستاذ مساعد دكتور حيدر علي حسن من أسنان بابل، وبإشراف استاذ مساعد دكتور فاطمة مالك عبود ومدرس دكتور زياد نزار مجيد. احمد ابراهيم
