In 1988, the College of Engineering became the first engineering college in the densely populated Middle Euphrates region. The departments of civil, and mechanical engineering were the first to be established, followed by the departments of electrical, chemical, environmental, architecture, and biomedical engineering.

استضافت لجنة الامر النيابي رقم(170) لسنة 2022 وفدا من جامعة بابل لمناقشة موضوع عقود قرار رقم 315 بجامعة بابل يوم الثلاثاء الموافق 2022/10/25. وتراس الوفد مساعد رئيس الجامعة للشؤون الادارية(ا.د.سلام عبد الزهرة الفتلاوي) وضم الوفد في عضويته مدير قسم الشؤون الادارية والمالية السيد نعمة كاظم حسين ومدير قسم الرقابة والتدقيق الداخلي السيد محمد علي كويخ ومسؤولة شعبة التوظيف والملاك السيدة زينب محسن محمد وكلا من السيد سلام عبد الله علي والسيد ناطق عبد الكاظم عبيد. وتم الاجتماع في مقر اللجنة المالية في مجلس النواب مع السيد النائب مصطفى خليل الكرعاوي والسيدة النائبة د.هند محمد العباسي والمستشار القانوني السيد حذيفة الصجري وممثل عن العقود من جامعة بابل تم دعوته من قبل اللجنة النيابية. واستعرض وفد الجامعة جميع الكتب الرسمية الخاصة بالعقود قبل 10/2 والبالغ عددهم 761 عقد والمتمثلة بالمخاطبات الوزارية والمخاطبات مع ديوان الرقابة المالية الاتحادي وتزويد اللجنة النيابية بنسخ منها وبعد اطلاع اللجنة النيابية على كل الكتب الرسمية اثنى اعضائها على دقة اجراءات جامعتنا ومطابقتها للتعليمات والضوابط وخاصة اكمال الجامعة انجاز مصادقة بيانات العقود من قبل ديوان الرقابة المالية الاتحادي. كما استعرض وفد الجامعة موضوع عقود ما بعد 10/2 حيث عرض الوفد كتاب الجامعة المتضمن رفع أسماء جميع العقود الى الوزارة لغرض حساب التخصيص المالي لهم وتأييد الجامعة الحاجة لخدماتهم ورغبتها في ايجاد حل قانوني ينصف هذه الشريحة. وقد طلبت اللجنة النيابية من وفد الجامعة مقترحاتهم بهذا الصدد وقد تم تقديم مقترحين مهمين: 1-تعديل تاريخ القرار رقم 315 من 10/2 ليكون لغاية تاريخ 12/31 واعادة جميع العقود للخدمة على ان يتم تعديل القرار رقم 315 خلال مدة 3 اشهر كحد اقصى لضمان صحة اجراءات عودتهم. 2-اعطاء الصلاحية للجامعات للتشغيل لمدة سنة قابلة للتجديد بدلا من 3 اشهر غير قابلة للتجديد للاستفادة من خدمات حملة الشهادات العليا والطلبة الاوائل. وفي نهاية اللقاء شكر السادة النواب وفد جامعة بابل واثنوا على صحة ودقة اجراءات الجامعة الخاصة بموضوع العقود.
