In 1988, the College of Engineering became the first engineering college in the densely populated Middle Euphrates region. The departments of civil, and mechanical engineering were the first to be established, followed by the departments of electrical, chemical, environmental, architecture, and biomedical engineering.

ناقش فرع الاحياء المجهرية في كلية طب الأسنان جامعة بابل رسالة ماجستير في موضوع الاحياء المجهرية الفموية والطبية لطالبة الدراسات العليا الماجستير (اسراء هادي هاشم احمد) برعاية مباشرة من عميد الكلية الاستاذ الدكتور أمير حمدي العميدي عن رسالتها الموسومة (دراسة مقارنة جزيئية للمكورات المعوية البرازية وبعض عوامل ضراوتها أثناء معالجة قناة الجذر قبل وبعد تطبيق ليزر الصمام الثنائي (دراسة في الجسم الحي)). تهدف هذه الدراسة الى عزل والتعرف على المكورات المعوية البرازية من المرضى الذين يعانون من عدوى لب الأسنان ، وتأكيد الكشف عن تلك المكورات وحساب عدد النسخ باستخدام اختبار سلسلة تفاعل البلمرة في الوقت الحقيقي على أساس جين 16SrRNA ، والتحقيق من عوامل الضراوة للبكتيريا المعزولة والتي تشمل إنزيم الجيلاتيناز والبروتين السطحي للمكورات المعوية ، وأخيراً تقييم التأثير المضاد للبكتيريا لكل من ري هيبوكلوريت الصوديوم وتطبيق ليزر الصمام الثنائي على المكورات المعوية البرازية وعوامل ضراوتها أثناء معالجة قناة الجذر. وتمت المناقشة بحضور معاون العميد للشؤون العلمية مدرس دكتور جميلة علي عبد الصاحب وعدد من تدريسيي الكلية وطلبة الدراسات العليا في الكلية، وتألفت لجنة المناقشة من استاذ دكتور عبير فوزي مراد رئيساً من علوم بنات بابل وعضوية كل من استاذ مساعد دكتور نوار هادي جاسم من تقانات القاسم الخضراء وأستاذ مساعد دكتور احمد حامد علي من طب اسنان بغداد، وبإشراف استاذ مساعد دكتور فاطمه مالك عبود وأستاذ مساعد دكتور احمد غانم مهدي. احمد ابراهيم
