In 1988, the College of Engineering became the first engineering college in the densely populated Middle Euphrates region. The departments of civil, and mechanical engineering were the first to be established, followed by the departments of electrical, chemical, environmental, architecture, and biomedical engineering.

شارك الاستاذ الدكتور بهاء حمدي العميدي من طب اسنان بابل في الورشة التي أقامتها مؤسسة الرؤى للتعليم والتنمية المستدامة بعنوان ( طرائق واستراتيجيات التعليم والتعلم ) تناولت الورشة أهمية استخدام التدريسي للأساليب العلمية الحديثة في تعليم الطلبة ومنها استخدام تقنيات الشاشات الإلكترونية الحديثة. وكذلك اعتماد بعض الافلام التوضيحية للمحاضرات العلمية إضافة الى استخدام طريقة العصف الذهني لتلاقح الافكار لدى الطلبة وتنمية مهارات الابتكار والابداع والابتعاد عن الاساليب المعتمدة على التلقين في اعطاء المحاضرات تأتي هذه المحاضرة في هدا الوقت لغرض اعداد طلبة يتمكنون من التفكير العلمي اعداد مخرجات العملية التعليمية لغرض تلبيه حاجات المجتمع وتقديم افضل الخدمات الصحية والتعليمية ومختلف القطاعات الاخرى للخريجين وحضر الورشة عدد من الاكاديميين والمتخصصين في مجال التعليم. احمد ابراهيم
