In 1988, the College of Engineering became the first engineering college in the densely populated Middle Euphrates region. The departments of civil, and mechanical engineering were the first to be established, followed by the departments of electrical, chemical, environmental, architecture, and biomedical engineering.

تزامناً مع احتفالات يوم الجامعة أقامت كلية طب الأسنان جامعة بابل حلقات توعوية حول مرض التدرن (السل الرئوي) وذلك بتوجيه من عميد الكلية الاستاذ الدكتور أمير حمدي العميدي حيث وجهت دعوة للسيدة كوثر عباس مهدي رئيس معاون طبي اقدم مسؤولة التثقيف الصحي في دائرة صحة بابل مركز الدكتور صالح المختار الاستشاري للأمراض الصدرية مركز التدرن في بابل للمحاضرة في هذه الحلقات بالتنسيق مع شعبة الإعلام والعلاقات العامة في الكلية إذ تم إلقاء المحاضرات في عيادات وقاعات ومختبرات الكلية وكذلك قاعة استراحة الموطنين وأماكن تجمع الطلبة في أروقة وحدائق الكلية وتم توزيع دليل العمل ببرنامج مكافحة التدرن على الأطباء والعاملين في أقسام الكلية. حيث تم توعية الأطباء ومنتسبي وطلبة الكلية وكذلك المواطنين والمراجعين عن خطورة مرض التدرن (السل الرئوي) وكيفية انتقاله وعلامات الاصابه بالمرض وكيفية الوقاية منه والتدابير التي يجب على طبيب الأسنان أن يتبعها للوقاية من الإصابة أو العدوى عند التعامل مع المراجعين أو المرضى. احمد ابراهيم
